Marie Antoinette Hoff (Nielsen)
1925 - 2014
Marie Hoff was born to John and Detta Nielsen on June 15, 1925 and passed away on May 2, 2014.
She was a fourth generation pioneer family and a descendent of the Diestelhorst, Junkans, and Nielsen families.
Marie attended Pine Street Elementary, Shasta High, Dominican College and University of Oregon, where she received her teaching credentials. Marie taught for a number of years in the Redding School District.
Marie met Don Hoff in Oregon while attending college. They married in Redding in 1949.
Marie loved life and being with her family and friends. She had an infectious sense of humor that lit up a room, was always upbeat and loved by everyone. Marie always saw the positive side in every situation. She enjoyed her Bridge group, cooking, traveling to various golfing events and family gathering. Marie was a member of Riverview Golf and Country Club, AAUW, and the Shasta Historical Society. She was a founding member of the Pilgrim Congregational Church.
Marie is survived by daughter Joan (Jerry) and son Donald (Karen) and granddaughter Allison.
Husband Don and daughter Connie preceded her in death.
She will be missed by family and friends.
The Hoff family wishes to thank Oakdale Heights and Mercy Hospice for the loving care Marie received.

We knew Marie for such a short couple of years and feel deeply saddened that she's passed.
The time we did share was such a gift--wow--what a dynamic powerhouse. You know what I mean. Bright, insightful and clever are words that come to mind.
