JOHN LANGSTON Obituary

LANGSTON JR., JOHN
CLIFFORD , 89, of Orlando, FL died Saturday, April 23, 2011. John was born November 21, 1921 in Malone, FL to John and Lela Langston. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1942 until 1945 as a Staff Sergeant and Radio Operator. His tour included service in the continental US and in the European, African, and Middle Eastern Asiatic-Pacific Theater. After the war, John graduated with honors from the University of Florida, majoring in Electrical Engineering. He was employed by Martin Marietta in Orlando and then moved to Houston, TX, where he was an aerospace engineer for the Space Shuttle program. While in TX, John and his wife Catherine enjoyed traveling with friends and ballroom dancing. They were also active members of Clear Lake United Methodist Church. John retired from Lockheed at age 70 then returned to Orlando with Catherine to be closer to family. He is preceded in death by his brother Ben and daughter Rebecca. John is survived by his loving wife Catherine of 42 years; and his children, daughters Shelley Luther (Alvin) of Orlando and Leslie Thompson (Doug) of Houston, TX , son David Langston of Eustis, son, Read
Donnell of Eustis, daughter, Cheryl Pierson of Alpharetta, GA; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. John touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew him. Honoring John's humble spirit, a private family service was held. Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Children's Home.
