Bernard J. Jaworski,Sr, 95, of 150 Sandpiper Ave, Royal Palm Beach, died peacefully in his sleep, early in the morning on Jan 14th, 2016. He had been battling stomach cancer for the past year and a half. Born in South Bend, Indiana on August 8, 1920, he and his wife of sixty-six years, Virgie (who passed away in 2010) moved to Florida in 1983.
He is survived by two children, Bernard, Jr. and his wife, Yelena, of Margate, and Thomas D. Jaworski, of Wellington. In addition, there are three grand children, Jill Keys, of Colorado Springs, Leslie Jaworski, of Wellington, and Ryan Jaworski, recently moved from Wellington to Denver, Co. Additionally, there are three great grandchildren, Kayla Keys, of Sacramento, Ca., Cadence Miles, of Monterey, Ca., and Vanessa Claflin, of Colorado Springs. Also, there is sister-in-law, Joann Jaworski, of South Bend, In., and sister-in-law Barbara Chitty, of Statenville, Ga. Finally, there are numerous nieces and nephews in Indiana, Texas, Maine, Georgia, and Florida. Bernard was a "bombardier" and a "decorated" pilot who flew 35 combat missions over Germany, during World War II. After the war, he maintained his pilots license for a number of years, flying both for business and leisure. Bernard retired after a 38 year career in the commercial printing industry, and also ushered at Notre Dame Football games for over 30 years. He enjoyed coaching Little League baseball, and was an avid bowler. In his later years, he liked watching all "sports' but golf and baseball, in particular. A memorial service will be held at 11AM Monday morning at the Palms West Funeral Home in Royal Palm Beach. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
