Bertil Nelson Obituary
Bert is survived by his wife of 27 years, Marti Nelson; sister, Gretchen Nelson of Blythe, CA; daughter, Cory (Matt) McCrary of Reno, NV and son, Brent Nelson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Muriel and Bertil Nelson Sr. and step-son, John Downes Jr.
Bert was born on September 3, 1946 in Duluth, Minnesota. He graduated from Palo Verde High School in 1964. Bert was a proud Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army. Upon returning home he completed his degree at Palo Verde College. Bert retired from Claypool's Distributing in 1995 after 24 years. He began his career at Ironwood State Prison in 1995 and retired after 15 years in 2010 as a Maintenance and Storage Supervisor I.
Bert was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion and the Elks. He was a past exalted ruler of the Elks in 1980-1981 and received the recognition of Elk of the Year three times. As an avid NASCAR fan, he and his wife enjoyed attending many races and watching every weekend together. Never sitting for too long, he enjoyed getting out and running into his many friends around town.
A Celebration of Bert's life will be held towards the end of March, hosted by B&B Bait. An exact date and time will be announced. All will be welcome to attend and celebrate his life.

Rat was a very good neighbor. There was never a day he was not outside watering his yard, making sure everything was in its place. He was like the neighborhood watch guy, always knew who was coming and going. Now you will be watching from the sky. He will be missed. Peace be with you and your family in this time of need.
