Lisa Facemire Obituary

On October 18, 2022 Lisa Ann Facemire passed away peacefully after a five-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was in the company of her husband of forty-four years, Daniel Lynn Facemire and her two children Brian Facemire and Anna Canada. Born in Valley Forge, PA, the same sense of adventure and passion that was instilled in General Washington's encampment in the winter of 1777-1778 was instilled her. She graduated from Bayside High School in 1971, Longwood University in 1975 with a B.A. in Elementary Education and an M.S. in Elementary Education from Old Dominion University in 1985. During the summers of her thirty-five-year teaching career when her children were young she took great care to give them adventurous summers. When her children got a bit older she became the adventurer. She was a life-long learner and lover of nature and science and a member of the Sierra Club and the National Wildlife Federation. She believed in the power of nature to heal the soul and she loved wild weather as much as a peaceful sunset and found solace in both places. Her love and passion for the outdoors presented in the form of various adventure trips with several of her teaching colleagues stretching from Alaska to Nova-Scotia and so much in-between. She loved and valued family more than anything. She is survived by her husband and life-long love Daniel Facemire as well her son Brian Facemire, his wife Alisyn Facemire and their son Daniel (8) and her daughter Anna Canada and her three children Campbell (8), Andrew (7) and Alexandra (3). She is also survived by her siblings Darrell DiVito, Gary DiVito, and Denise Basham. There will be a public visitation with family on Tuesday October 25, 2022 at the Bayside Chapel of Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home on Independence Boulevard from 5-7pm and a celebration of life (date to be determined) in November. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance or the SPCA to venerate our sweet mother and wife.

Dear Danny , Brian and Anna,
Your mom was such a spirited wonderful person whom I had the privilege to call one of my best friends. I will truly miss her in so many ways, her laugh, her smile (those dimples),the way she had of always letting you know how much she cared about you. We had so much joy and fun when we got the Bad Girls together. We laughed so hard till someone wet their pants...no names here!
I am so very sorry for your loss and will always hold her in my heart. Love to all Yolanda

Dan,
I am so sorry to read about your loss. So many times during our Coast Guard days we would talk about our wives and their respective support of our military responsibilities. Many of those conversations continue to make me smile whenever I think back to those days and great conversations we had about our supporting spouses. Having lost my spouse of 50 years in 2009, I can only realize the feeling of pain and loss that you and your family are experiencing. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. May you be blessed with fond memories of the wonderful life that you had with Lisa.
