William David "Bill" Summerlin

William "Bill" David Summerlin passed away peacefully at age 72, on March 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, strength, and unforgettable memories. Bill was born in Norfolk, VA, on November 23, 1953, the son of the late Dorothy and Horace Summerlin. He was the beloved husband of Rita Ann Summerlin.

Bill graduated from Bayside High School in Virginia Beach, VA, where he enjoyed playing football. He went on to have a very successful career in automotive sales. A hard worker and a natural salesman, Bill was charming, charismatic, and always quick with a smile. He truly never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Bill was the life of every gathering. He loved hosting legendary Super Bowl parties, entertaining friends, and spending carefree days fishing and cruising on his beloved boat, Billabong. He also enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, painting, and dancing. Bill lived life fully and unabashedly, embracing every moment with enthusiasm, humor, and heart. Above all, Bill was a proud and devoted father and grandfather. He was deeply loved by his family and friends, and his larger-than-life presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Shirley Lynn "Lynnie" Fand (Damon) and Michelle Kerns (Brian); his brothers, Steve Summerlin (Jane) and Horace Summerlin (predeceased by his wife, Mary); and his sister, Barbara Bell (Ken). Bill's greatest joy was his grandchildren, Macy Fand, Kinley Mollica, and Haven Mollica-who brought endless pride, laughter, and happiness to his life.
