Mary Meade Obituary
Mrs. Meade was a math teacher at Granby and Lake Taylor High Schools in Norfolk. She was a member of Virginia Heights Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her son, D. Wayne Meade, Jr. of Belvidere, N.C.; her brother, John J. Chappell of Va Beach, VA; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home Southside Chapel on June 2, 2023, 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends and relatives one hour before the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made Whiteville Grove Baptist Church 373 Perrys Bridge Rd, Belvidere, NC 27919 or to a charity of your choice.

Mrs. Meade always made math fun and less intimidating. I didn't know she passed away. I had her for Algebra II at Lake Taylor H.S. She was always pleasant and had a smile. She loved teaching. May she rest in peace and may her family be comforted in their time of bereavement.

I was saddened to see that Mrs. Meade had passed away. I have fond memories of her, I did my student teaching under her in 1982 from NSU. She taught us to be on time, be prepared, and to know the lesson. May she rest on peace know her legacy lives on. I had a very successful teaching career 35 years. Love, Peace and Happiness

Mrs. Meade was my Algebra 2 teacher at Granby High School. I graduated in 1961 and majored in math at Mary Washington College and taught math at the middle, high school, community college and college level for over 30 years!
