William Paroli Obituary

William L.

Paroli Jr.

Town of Clinton - William L. Paroli Jr. died Monday September 26, 2011 at home. Born in Poughkeepsie, New York, he was the son of William L. and Betty Jones Paroli Sr.

On December 1, 2002 at the River Church William married Nancy J. Campbell.

Throughout his private life and public service, Bill was well known for giving generously of his time, his talent and his knowledge. His greatest happiness came from knowing that he had helped someone, whether it was stepping up to assist at the County Clerk's Office, naturalizing hundreds of new United States citizens or just looking up a phone number or an address for a friend in need. He especially treasured his years with the original Poughkeepsie Pacers Drum and Bugle Corps in Poughkeepsie, coaching Little League in the Town of Clinton and his service to his country as a U.S. Navy submariner aboard the USS Narwhal. In all his endeavors, Bill was a natural born leader who motivated others to do more than their best. Following two terms as Dutchess County Clerk, he formed Empire State Investigations, Inc. and conducted successful investigations of dozens of local and state-level election law cases until the time of his death. From childhood on, he was a born musician who excelled at voice, on drums and guitar. As a child he loved to perform for his family, as a teenager and young adult he was a valued member of a number of local bands, and as an adult he gave tirelessly of his time and musical gifts to countless organizations and municipalities. His trademark song was his heartfelt performance of "God Bless the USA". He and his wife Nancy performed regionally and in Branson, Missouri, as the musical duo "Hearts on Fire" since 2004, and their final performance was at a Catskill resort just one day prior to his hospital admission several weeks ago. While in the Navy, Bill accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and his rock solid faith has sustained him through many difficult days. He was a formidable, tireless and fearless advocate for Conservative principles who fought countless political obstacles in order to simply do what is right. His love of helping others was only matched by his love for his country and his Savior. He was one of Dutchess County's most recognizable political figures, and he will be dearly missed by his family, countless friends and the legion of individuals whose lives he touched. Come unto me, all ye who labor and are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.

Bill leaves behind his wife, the former Nancy Campbell; his parents, William L. and Betty J. Paroli; his sister, brother-in-law and niece Elizabeth Paroli, Wayne Kezirian and Amanda Kezirian; his stepfamily Aaron Quantock, Maura Gagan and Crescenzia Quantock; his children Marcus, Rebecca and Jed Paroli; many aunts, uncles, cousins, countless family members and a legion of dear friends who mourn his passing.

The entire Paroli family wishes to thank the many, many individuals who knew Bill in life and who now offer their support and sympathy in their time of sorrow. Arrangements were handled by the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie New York 12603.

Bill, I got the call tonight. I am in tears. My heart cries out to Nancy, your mom and dad. We pulled each other through some really tough times. You inspired me to dig into the political arena. You were there when I needed a friend when few were around. I was there for you when you were operated on and you for me. You are more than a friend you are my brother. Many of us know exactly where you are. Timing is not ours. Love you brother. Thanks for all your gifts of friendship, partnership, and for just being there. You are still so alive to me. Nancy, my heart and prayers continue to reach out to you.

With the exception of your family members no one goes back as far as our friendship. As kids we were inseparable. In the summer Twin Elms was our second home. Billy, I loved you like a brother and always will. When you entered the U.S. Navy I was proud of you. I felt that you had followed in my foot steps. I was also very proud to see what a patriot you became in the political areana. I sure will miss our conversations on Skipe, that kept us connected. Those yearly dinners were you, Albert and I were priceless. There is so much I am going to miss as a result of your passing. I wish you "Fair Winds and Following Seas". I love you Brother!

Bill, it's so hard to believe that you are gone. I have so many great memories of our times together in homeroom and classes in Haviland and F.D.Roosevelt over the years. You were a great friend to me and to everyone, as well as being such a talented person. Class reunions won't be the same without you, your gregarious personality, or your music. You will be truly missed. Nancy, you have my deepest sympathy. Do celebrate the time you had with Bill.

I have known Bill my entire life. Together we shared in the celebrations of our family and in the heartbreak when we lost someone. Our lives reconnected when he became County Clerk and he offered me a job. I will celebrate 20 years at the County in January and I have Bill to thank. I wll never forget his rendition of "God Bless the USA" at naturalization ceremonies - you knew he believed in every word he was singing. He was a true patriot who cared very deeply about this Country. Bob and I offer our sincere sympathies to Nancy and the Paroli family. Bill, you will be deeply missed, but I know you are now singing for the angels.

My sincerest sympathy to Nancy and the Paroli family. I've known Bill since school, a very long time ago. He hired me to work for him @ the clerk's office and 15 yrs. later I'm still a county employee, thanks to Bill. As a single parent, I had some troubles that Bill helped me through. He also got me into line dancing which became a passion of mine. Yes, I owe a lot to Bill Paroli. He will be missed terribly. RIP my friend..

I personally have known Bill since junior high at Haviland and he was always the leader for class reunions etc. In 2005 my twin brother Bob Passed away (Heart Attack) and Bill called me when he saw it in the paper. He then called my brothers wife in South Carolina to offer his sympathy. Bill never met my brothers wife and this reaching out was Bill's way. I will surely miss Bill, but I will remember all of the memories we had together. USN Vet Bill Gannon

All Submarine Sailors honor our shipmates who sail no more. Bill's is a face who appears in our memories. He is a character in a story of freedom, camaraderie and the occasional tale of a sailor on the town. Bill will be missed and appreciated for who he was while amongst us and for who and what he has left behind. To his honor and memory, we say:
Rest your oars, old sailor
No more will you go to sea
Rest your oars, old sailor
This is where you're supposed to be.
