Clarissa Sheehan Obituary

Clarissa T. Sheehan
of Wesley Village
Clarissa T. Sheehan of Wesley Village, passed away Monday evening at Wesley Village, Pittston, where she resided for the past 13 years. She was born in Hawley on October 2, 1917, a daughter of the late Rev. Stephen and Clarissa Arnold Treat. She was a graduate of Hawley High School, Class of 1934, a 1938 graduate of East Stroudsberg University State Teachers College, receiving a B.S. degree in Education. She was Valedictorian of both her high school and college classes. She taught History, English and Mathematics at Stroudsburg High School. She also taught mathematics at West Virginia Wesleyan College in their training program for aviation students and trainees for Wright Field. She and her late husband, Rev. Robert Sheehan, served numerous churches in the Central Pennsylvania and Wyoming Conferences of the United Methodist Church. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Bliss, Leo and Kenneth Treat; sisters, Verna Blakeslee and Beatrice Sickler. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Sharon Sheehan of Hummelstown, Pa.; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and David Angstadt of Middleburg, Pa., Beth and Jeffrey Evans of Mountainhome, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2003 at 3 p.m., from the Lakeville United Methodist Church, the church that her father served as Pastor from 1912 to 1916. Presiding will be Rev. Teressa M. Sivers and Rev. William W. Reid. Interment will be in Lakeville Cemetery. Friends may call at the church form 2 p.m. until the time of service. Arrangements by the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to Wesley Habitat, 211 Roberts Road, Suite G20, Pittston, Pa., 18640.
