I was a student of david shapiro, whom i met at binghamton university. he challenged me like no other professor had and greatly influenced my life making us friends. we shared a comical joy of choconut and the choconut inn, which was a fun stop for murphy too. he lived just a couple houses from my sister. we spent hours discussing lifestyle, politics, philosophy, religion, art, cars, medicine...i was going to visit him over christmas and take him some of my home-made bread and cookies (which he had always enjoyed). i know david has moved on to a new blank canvas with his brush in his hand and is painting up a storm. what is the proper consistancy of a brush stroke? only david knows. thank you for all you gave david.

David and I were married for several years in the late 60's through the early 70's. We shared some wonderful and special times together. I was so saddened to hear of his passing. He will always have a special place in my heart.

David Shapiro was my painting professor when I attended the University in the 1980's. We have remained friends all these years. He was a wonderful person and a dear friend whom I'll miss all the rest of my days. Shalom old friend...

I remember David many years ago from the old Ale House in Vestal. He painted a portrait of myself which I still have hanging on my wall today. Everyone who has ever seen the painting comments that he did capture a certain look. After reading of David's passing, the painting is more dear to me.
I remember him being a very interesting person.
