Stephen Aust Obituary

AUST, STEPHEN K.
71, of Glocester, died Saturday November 12, 2016 at home. He was the husband of Barbara Anne (Laliberte) Aust for 51 years and was a son of the late Frederick and Annis (Greenwood) Aust.
Stephen grew up in Graniteville and graduated from Hope High School. He graduated from Roger Williams College with a Bachelor's of Science degree, was an Eagle Scout, and was a youth hockey coach for many years. Stephen taught computer language at Roger Williams College. He was a senior systems analyst at FM Global until retirement in 2007, and a volunteer fire fighter and rescue diver for the Graniteville Fire Department. He was an accomplished javelin thrower in High School and later in life, competing in the Senior Olympics, winning gold medals. Stephen was a member and past master of Friendship Lodge #7 F&AM, a member of St. Johns Commandry #1, and member of Providence Chapter and Providence Counsel. He was also a member of Sword of Bunker Hill Gaspee Order #99.
Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Kristine Nickerson and her husband Dale, Melissa Aust and her companion Susan Schiano, and Stephen Aust and his wife Kim, a grandchild, Jillian Whetstone and a great grandchild, Ella Whetstone. He was the brother of the late Robert G. Aust.
A Masonic Service will be held Thursday at 11 AM in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave. North Providence. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Calling hours Wednesday 5-8PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 2374 Post Rd., Suite 206, Warwick, RI 02886.
