She was married to the late Paul H. Speicher, who passed away March 29, 2010. Margaret and Paul were married for 69 years and 10 months.
Born in Penn Twp, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Amy (Porter) Showers.
Margaret was co-owner with her late husband Paul, of Speicher Exxon Service Station, located south of Bernville on Route 183, from 1953 until 1977.
In earlier years she was also employed by Berkshire Knitting Mill and for 10 years she was employed by Bernville Manufacturing Co., last working in 1987.
She was a member of North Heidelberg United Church of Christ, where she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting.
Survivors include her children: Rodney L. Speicher of Jefferson Twp.; Brian L. Speicher, husband of Ellen; and Nancy L., wife of R. Robert Balthaser, both of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one sister, Myrl, widow of Earl Speicher of Robesonia; six grandchildren: Rick and Lance Balthaser, Vicki Crow, Stacy Salinas, and Shana and Shawn Speicher; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Warren Showers.
Funeral services will be Saturday August 31 at 11 a.m. in the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main St., Bernville, PA, with Pastor Ron Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in North Heidelberg Church Cemetery. Family and friends may attend a viewing Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home.
