Jonathan K. Wright, 70, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on February 9, 2023.
A public viewing will be held Sunday, February 19, 2023, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home & Crematory. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2023, in the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel. Live Streaming will be available from the Hamlar-Curtis website. Click "View Live Streaming Here" at the top of the screen. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be held in Williams Memorial Park. I knew Jonathan for the 10-years I worked at Valley Metro from 1993-2003. He was a consistent, stalwart and dependable operator in the bus operations department. I could always rely on Jonathan for anything needed to keep things running smoothly and reliably. He was always courteous and cordial with his coworkers, management and passengers which matched his calm demeanor and sterling character. I am enriched for having known him, as I’m certain are many countless others who will cherish fond memories.

To the Wright and Quarles families. Words cannot express the sadness that we have felt since hearing of Jonathan's passing. The Lord blessed me to work with J.K. for 36 years and we had fun fussing with each other. I already miss him. But however we didn't realize that God had a better plan for him. Metro was blessed to have his dedication of serving the public for 49 years,it takes a special kind of person to give most of their live caring for the public. Thank you family for being right there with him through all these years and he loved his family. Thank you for sharing him with us.We know weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Jonathan was one of my favorite people at work. Nobody is promised tomorrow, but he looked physically fit and healthy every day. He was a great guy, everybody loved him and he was one of the nicest people ever. He will be sorely missed. My condolences to his family and all who loved him.
