David E. Boeselager 1932—2018
David E. Boeselager, 86, of Rockford, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018. He was born January 14, 1932, in Hilbert, Wisconsin, the son of Gilbert and Alice (Weichmann) Boeselager. Dave married the love of his life, Jeannette Thurow, on September 15, 1957. He worked as a photographer and photo lab technician for Sundstrand Corp. and later for Gamma Imaging of Chicago. Dave was a voracious reader and was a wealth of knowledge, always researching and curious to learn new things. He enjoyed music (especially marching bands), World War II airplanes, and old cars. Most of all, Dave loved spending time with his family and supporting the activities of his children and grandchildren. He will be forever remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Survived by his wife, Jeannette; children Tim (Kim) Boeselager and Amy (Noel) Nickel; grandchildren Brock and Bryce Boeselager, and Jackson, Hayden, and Brady Nickel; brother Richard (Marilyn) Boeselager; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Audrey and Erhardt Wordell; sister-in-law, Barb Thurow; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son Stewart Boeselager; sister, Eileen Zimmermann and brother, Neil Boeselager. The family would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff at Anam Care and OSF Hospice, especially Julie Erickson, Amy Kroos, and Janelle Calow. They also extend a very special thank you and loving gratitude to Dave's wonderful caregivers, Aage and Tonga, and their children, who all treated him like part of their family.
A celebration of Dave's life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, preceded by a visitation from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rockford Rescue Mission, 715 W.
