Rolf Moeller Obituary

MOELLER, Rolf Harald
"Sonny"
Born November 21, 1928 in Sacramento CA; passed away July 23rd, 2004 after a long illness. He was 75. Rolf grew up in Roseville, attended Dry Creek Elementary School, Roseville H.S., and was a graduate of Placer Jr. College and CSUS. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and played baseball for a farm team of the Pittsburgh Pirates. After teaching and coaching in Elk Grove for four years, Rolf moved to Del Oro H.S. in Loomis in 1960, where be taught history and government and coached football, basketball, softball, baseball, golf and track at various times until his retirement in 1989. He was an avid fisherman, golfer, and reader, and he enjoyed traveling, musical theatre and sporting events. We will remember Dad for his piercing light blue eyes, his sense of humor, his enthusiasm for a good debate, and his love of the natural world. We admired his honesty and integrity. Rolf is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joanne, daughters Sigrid Gibson, Kristin Phillips and Inger Avery, sons in-law Guy Gibson, Ken Phillips and Rob Avery, three grandchildren and four step grandchildren, sisters Elise Ostrom and Dorothy Miller, brother Fred Moeller, sisters in-law Carolyn Moeller and Sandra Potts, brother in-law Arthur Williams, mother in-law Maxine Campbell, uncle Marvin Schellhous, numerous nieces and nephews, and many good friends. He was preceded in death by sister Katherine (Punky) Williams. A celebration of Rolf's life will be announced at a later date. Remembrances may be made to Placer Legacy, Del Oro Athletic Program or the charity of your choice.
