Geraldine Dupler Obituary

Geraldine (Gerry) Anderson Dupler 1922 ~ 2007 Geraldine (Gerry) Anderson Dupler died on January 9, 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada, two weeks before her 85th birthday. Gerry was born to Ernest R. Anderson and Vanorma Blackham Anderson on January 23, 1922 in Moroni, Utah. She was one of four children including sisters Catherine (Reese) and Rachel (Crump) and brother Raymond. After graduation from Moroni High School, Gerry attended Snow College in Ephraim, Utah and later Business College in Salt Lake City while rooming at the Beehive House. On the advice of a friend, she took a job as a bookkeeper with Dupler's Furs in Salt Lake. In 1945, accompanied by her sister Rachel, she moved to Denver for three years working at the Dupler's store there. The sisters, up for an adventure, then relocated to Los Angeles. Upon Gerry's return to Salt Lake City, she married local businessman and philanthropist Joseph (Joe) H. Dupler on November 2, 1952. Gerry embraced the role of mother raising three children, Barry, Roslyn and Marcella. When Joe died on April 3, 1963, Gerry assumed responsibility for the family business in addition to those of homemaker. Gerry was a founding member of Congregation Kol Ami where she served on the Board of both the Congregation and the Sisterhood. Her love of travel took her to many parts of the world although her trips with family to Hawaii filled a special place. She was an avid player of mah jong, loved crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and especially enjoyed scrabble games with her friend Isabel. She enjoyed the fine art of needlework, knitting, and created some of the best cookies, brisket and blintzes on the planet. Many will remember Gerry as a selfless caregiver as she tirelessly nursed her loved ones in their time of need. She is survived by her children Barry Dupler of Seattle, Washington; Roslyn D. Fitch of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Marcella D. Henkels of Corvallis, OR; four grandsons Joey, Ben, Max and Sam and god-children Karen, Laura, Gwen, Greg and Gavin. She was also blessed with a large extended family, the Rowleys, Golubs and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. A short service will be held on Friday, January 12 at 1:00 at Evans and Early Mortuary. Interment will follow at the B'nai Israel Cemetery. The family requests a donation to the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.

I was saddened to read of your mother's passing. She lived to spend time with all of you. What a great lady. I was fortunate to be her trust officer for a time. I send my sympathy and love to the family.

Aunt Gerry I remember so many happy times spent with you as a child. Pretending your closet was an elevator that would take me to special places and that your basement was a candy factory. We had slumber parties, swimming parties and went to so many make believe places together. Everything I wanted to pretend..You pretended with me and I will never forget those times for they are some of the fondest memories I have. I love you aunt Gerry! I know my Grandma and Grandpa will be happy to see you.

Aunt Gerry,
What a party there must be going on. Mom & dad, Aunt Rachel and Isabel all there to greet you. I know how much you have missed them. We will miss you so much. Even though we didn't see each other as often as I would have liked since your move to Las Vegas, the times we did spend together are so memorable and full of laughs. You, Christy & I have had alot of laughs and memories at the Suncoast. The memories go so far back and there are plenty that put a smile on my face. I will miss you more that you know!
All my love,
Marilyn
