Laimonis Vitols Obituary
Laimonis "Lee" Vitols, USAF CMSgt (Ret), passed away August 2, 2018 after a battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his wife Irene. He is survived by son Erik and wife Linda; daughter Linda and husband Larry, brother, John and sister, Aija; grandchildren Amy, Ashley, Erika, Jennifer and Melody; one great-grandchild Patrick, plus numerous other relatives and friends.
Laimonis was born in Aizpute, Latvia on September 14, 1933 and immigrated to the US in 1949. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1954 and served at various locations, and got promoted to Chief Master Sergeant. He retired from the USAF in 1984, then worked at Randolph AFB for 18 years as a systems analyst supervisor. Lee enjoyed his retirement, golfing and/or fishing several times a week, depending on the forecast. He loved traveling with family and will be missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, August 9th at 10:00 AM at Schertz Funeral Home. Interment with full military honors will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Friday, August 17th at 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Homes for the Homeless.

I am so sorry for your loss and my belated note. I only became aware of lee's passing when my facebook page said today was his birthday and I was trying to send him birthday greetings Lee was a dear friend and one of the finest men I ever knew. He was a lousy golfer, but that goes with the territory
