Richard Capps Obituary
Richard LeRoy Capps passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017 at his home in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on October 18, 1953 in Houston, Texas to Emily Tyson Capps and Ethan LeRoy Capps and was preceded in death by his parents. Richard is survived by his son Garrett Tyson Capps and his girlfriend, Marla Segura; his former spouse of 23 years, Sheri Dorsett Capps; his sister, Nancy Capps Forester and husband, Jack; niece, Catherine Bradley and her fiancé, Stephen O'Connell; nephew, Robert Bradley and wife, Hallie, along with many extended family members. He is also survived by his faithful labrador retriever companions, Pepper and Blanco.
Richard graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Houston, Texas where he made lifelong friends, served as Senior Class President and proudly achieved his Eagle Scout. He graduated from the University of Texas in 1976 with a BBA in Finance and was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. Upon graduation, he began his 40-year banking career with First International Bank of Houston. In 1983 he moved to San Antonio where he enjoyed a long and successful career in real estate banking, in recent years as Executive Vice President of IBC Bank San Antonio.
His professional affiliations included Real Estate Council of San Antonio - Executive Committee, CREW San Antonio- Executive Committee and San Antonio Mobility Coalition- Executive Committee/Board Member.
Richard was actively involved with CCA Texas. He was an avid saltwater fisherman and was nicknamed "Captain Redfish" by his friends. He was a passionate hunter, an all-around sports enthusiast and never gave up on his Astros and Longhorns. He grew up hunting and fishing with his Dad and truly loved being outdoors. He was a proud supporter of all of his son Garrett's endeavors, particularly his songwriting accomplishments.
Richard embraced life and lived large and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and business associates.

I worked with Richard during my tenure with IBC San Antonio. He was always kind and supportive. We both went to UT Austin so our Longhorn bond always brought us together for some wonderful conversations! My deepest and heartfelt sympathies to the family who loves him so dearly!
