Steven Davis Obituary

DAVIS, STEVEN Feb. 9, 1953 to Oct. 28, 2006 Loving Husband, Father, Brother and Friend. Born in San Diego, CA where he spent his childhood surfing, working on sportfishing boats and piloting planes. He worked for Dave Martin Supply; he was a commercial lobster fisherman; owner of Steve Davis Marine Services; and owner/operator of SD Express. In 1977, he fell in love with his wife of 29 years. In 1978, they with their three daughters, moved to Santee, CA; where he spent the rest of his life. As his daughters grew, he spent his family time fishing on the Susan D; named after his true love. When his grandchildren were born, he enjoyed spending his free time at the desert; driving the dune buggies he built, at the river, or just watching NASCAR with his family and friends. He will always be remembered for the love he had for his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Davis and father-in-law Leonard Broski. He is survived by his wife, Susan Davis; daughters Holly Kay (Quail Vly., CA), Amy Kay (El Cajon, CA) and Leslie Kussman (Menifee, CA); mother-in-law Della Broski (Santee, CA); brother, Bill Davis (Santee, CA) and niece Elizabeth Davis; sons-in-law Paul Kay, Jon Kay and Jason Kussman; grandchildren, Ashlyn Kay, Justin Kay, Ryan Kay, Hannah Kussman, Andrew Kussman, and Madelyn Kay; brother-in-law, Leonard Broski (Brighton, MI) and family. His unselfishness and unconditional love cannot be summed up into words; he will be deeply missed by everyone who was blessed to have known him. He will be in our hearts forever. A celebration of his life will be held at Singing Hills Memorial Park, Friday, November 3rd at 11 a.m. Please sign the guest book at obituaries.uniontrib.com

What Makes a Dad..... God took the strength of a mountain, the majesty of a tree, the warmth of a summer sun, the calm of a quiet sea, the generous soul of nature, the comforting arm of night, the wisdom of the ages, the power of the eagle's flight, the joy of a morning in spring, the faith of a mustard seed, the patience of eternity, the depth of a family need. Then God combined these qualities, when there was nothing more to add, he knew his masterpiece was complete, and so, He called it ... Dad

You will be in our hearts forever.

Love Always, Jason, Leslie, Hannah & Andrew

Susie:
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your husband.
I can tell by his obituary how loved he was, how in love with your husband you are.
Here is a small verse I wrote I hope will comfort you:

"Take pictures in your memory to heaven for me.
Show Dad how beautiful all the kids turned out to be,
Carry with you a piece of our hearts and know in this way,
We'll never be apart..."

My love and prayers are with you.
Kelly (Allen) Ayers (your 2nd cousin)

To the Davis Family,
I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am for the loss of Steve. He was a wonderful man and I feel very privileged to have been able to know him. It won't be the same not seeing him outside working on his many toys. He may be gone, but will never be forgotten. God Bless.
