Sharlene Marie Plunkett

1945 - 2024

It is with great sadness to announce the sudden passing of Sharlene Marie Plunkett, age 79 of Santa Maria, CA. On September 23, 2024, Sharlene was involved in an automobile accident near her home. She is now reunited with her beloved late husband, Edwin Stanley Plunkett.

Sharlene was born on September 7, 1945 in Honolulu, Hawaii and the daughter of the late Allen and Socorro Pagdilao. Lovingly known as "Manang" within her Filipino family, she graduated from Waipahu High School in 1963 where she went on to study at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

She is survived by her loving sons, Eric George, Dell James and Garrett Anthony. Sharlene was the eldest of her surviving siblings, Reginald, Lucella, Marcella and Alana. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

After raising her boys, Sharlene spent her well-earned retirement from GTE/Verizon attending weekly Sunday mass, Water Aerobics classes and participating in events with friends at her Senior Citizen Center.

Sharlene always held her religious and spiritual beliefs close to her heart. With a heart full of love and grace, she always brought empathy and laughter to her family and friends. Special occasions like birthdays and holidays were particularly important to her as no celebration was too little to appreciate. Rest assured you would receive a beautifully handwritten card, or an excited phone call to express her care and affection. Her thoughtfulness and compassion for others was immeasurable.

Sharlene's departure leaves an unfillable void in many lives, yet family and friends find comfort in the everlasting memories she left with us. Those who knew her will never forget her infectious laugh, cheerful nature and loving heart.

There will be a Memorial Service on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 1:00 pm at St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church.

Sharlene was one of the sweetest and kindest people I´ve ever met. Her good nature was completely honest and genuine. When you were in her presence you felt real warmth, as though you were truly important to her. I loved hearing her stories about Hawaii and her family. I am a singer in a local community choir and Sharlene was a devoted audience member. I looked to see her smiling face in the audience. We will miss the joy she brought to our lives
