Philip Yonge Obituary

Philip R. Yonge Jr., 86, died Wednesday, September 10, 2003 in Candler Hospital. Born in Wyandotte, MI. and he lived all of his life in Savannah and was a graduate of Carlisle Military School. He was a World War II Army veteran, where he fought with the 5th Division of General Pattons Third Army and received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart and obtained the rank of Captain. He was a member of Bull Street Baptist Church and St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, the Savannah Golf Club and Landrum Lodge #48 F. & A.M. He retired from General Electric Supply Company with over 40 years of service, where he worked as a Sales Manager. He was an avid golfer. His wife, Frances W. Yonge, parents, Philip R., Sr. and Evola S. Yonge and sister, Cecil Page, preceded him in death. Survivors: son, Phil R. Yonge, III of Keystone Heights, FL.; step-daughters and sons-in-law, Kathrine H. and Jim Guinan of Augusta and Anna H. and Walter Arnsdorff of Savannah; step-son and daughter-in-law, William D. and Diane Harrison of Atlanta; brother, Jackson B. Yonge of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Evola Schirm of Savannah; grandchildren, Ailish Guinan, David and Ashby Harrison, Tannie and William Arnsdorff, Anthony and Nicolas Yonge; great-grandchild, Nyla E. Yonge and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 12, 2003 in Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel. Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 13, 2003 in Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel with Reverend Earnie T. Pirkle officiating. Burial: Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park Cemetery.
