William Nieman Obituary

William G. "Bill" Niemann
On July 18, 2013 William G. "Buck" Niemann passed from this world as he had lived in it, with gentle peacefulness. He was surrounded by the love of his large extended family.
He was born May 26, 1921 to Fritz and Anna Niemann. He was the youngest of 6 children. He had a lifelong love of sports and participated in track. He had a number of obstacles in his life. As a young man he contracted polio and later TB both of which he overcame with tenacity and courage. In 1948 he met and married Helen, the love of his life. They enjoyed many years together, including travel to Mexico and around the US.
Having no children of their own they decided to set up an education fund for members of their extended family and eventually for some outside of it. 104 young people were able to acquire a debt free education due to their generosity.
He worked for Northrop for 36 years, rising to the position of Assistant to the Vice President of Finance. Through the years he and Helen, before her passing, generously gave of their time and money to various charities. They supported a mission in Mexico, delivered meals on wheels for 5 years and he did volunteer tax preparation for seniors for many years. He is survived by his sister, Mildred Urich and many nieces and nephews. Services will be at Desert Lawn Cemetery in Calimesa at 12 pm on July 30th.
