What a special lady Viola was. So sharp and energetic at her age. She had a goal to be 108. Viola will be missed greatly. She loved all of her friends. So grateful for her 100 birthday celebration.

Viola was a powerhouse of a person who took on challenges without reluctance or reservation. I’m so glad she convinced me to be chapter president of MRW. That was an invaluable experience! That was the way she was-she raised you up to find talents you never really knew you had. Many will miss her. She made it to 100 and then must have thought—‘Lord, I’m yours—give me a new job, I’m ready!’

The Legislative Evaluation Assembly of Minnesota is grateful for the life of a founding member, Viola Maehren, who passed away on November 30, just a few weeks after celebrating her 100th birthday. She brought a lot of energy and conviction to whatever she did, from her time in the workforce, to her volunteer service for the church, to the many ways she was engaged in the civic life of her community. Even this year she was trying to persuade people she knew into getting involved with LEA.--John Augustine, LEA Board Member and Former Chairman

I knew Viola through the Legislative Evaluation Assembly. She was a founder and leader in LEA, a hard worker and ideological driver. She Was an energetic, optimistic, and fun person. We will miss her.
