Sarah Morse Obituary

Sarah Calfee Morse
06/27/1939 - 06/27/2025
Sarah Calfee Morse, broke the mold the moment she arrived, and spent the next eight decades ignoring every expectation, with flair and a punchline.
Born in Oakland, she lost her father as an infant, moved to Cleveland, and quickly began saying what no one else would. She chose Arizona State because it was hot, and Berkeley because it made her sound smarter at family dinners.
She met Peter Morse on a blind date, got engaged after throwing up on his shoes, and spent 60+ years loving, laughing, and moving to Fiji just because. Their Piedmont home was more carnival than house, complete with a cat named Piedmont Pussy.
She dabbled gloriously in teaching ESL, writing, and storytelling, and somehow turned sarcasm into a spiritual practice. She wore turtlenecks in July, befriended mailmen and misfits, and faced breast cancer with a pin that read: "Stop Staring at My Tits."
She held an unofficial PhD in the inappropriate and hilarious-and she used it often.
Survived by Peter, her children Tony, Elizabeth, and Hilary, her daughter-in-law Tracey, and grandkids Ben, Jack, Henry, Cecilia, Xan, and Luka. Predeceased by brothers Martin and Ben.
If you met her, you have a Sarah Morse story. If you didn't, you missed something rare.
In her honor, say what you mean, wear something absurd, and please don't ask: "Where's it at?" She hated that.
There will be a celebration of her life at a later date.

We always had fun with Sarah at The Lair in July! My kids were sad when they heard the news.

Sarah was a one of a kind person who will never be replaced. She was unabashedly irreverent and constantly kept everyone on their toes. Hilariously funny and yet strong willed and easily folded into a serious mold when necessary. Her husband, Peter, was our consigliere at Terramomics real estate company. That´s how I met Sarah
