William (Bill) passed away at home in the early hours of July 6, three days after celebrating his 94th birthday with his family by his side. Born and raised in San Francisco, Bill lived most of his life on 33rd Avenue in the Sunset District. Of the 5 brothers born to parents Fred and Helen, Bill was the quiet one, but you definitely didn't want to rile him up.

He attended Lawton Grammar and Polytechnic High schools, and in 1945 enlisted in the army, spending 2 years in Japan. He returned to San Francisco in 1948 and, while serving as an usher at his older brother's wedding, met and fell in love with the Maid of Honor, Amelia Orduño. They married in 1950 and celebrated their 70th anniversary last October.

Bill worked as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service for over 40 years. His joy in life was his family: babysitting the grandkids, weekly coffee with his brothers, and picnics with the extended family. He was especially proud of his three wonderful and devoted sons. While never one to say much with words, the lessons he taught by his actions were powerful in providing a moral compass to his children, and the kindness and consideration that he showed to all will be greatly missed. Bill was predeceased by his parents and brothers Roy, Ken, and Dick, his twin. He is survived by his beloved wife Amelia; brother Larry (Pat); sons Ray (Carmen), Steve (Anna), and Tom; grandsons Rey, Anthony (Karen), and Matthew (Joyce); great-grandson Gavin; and many nieces and nephews.

A rosary will be held 6PM Sunday, July 18th at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, followed by a Memorial Mass at Holy Name of Jesus Church in San Francisco on Monday, July 19th at 11AM.
