Ziegler, Gerald J.

Gerald J. "Jerry" Ziegler, 86, of Sheboygan Falls, died early Sunday morning, June 10, 2012, at Pine Haven Christian Home.

Jerry was born on February 2, 1926, in the Town of Mitchell, the son of the late Leonard and Marie (Burke) Ziegler. He graduated from Sheboygan North High School in1944. Jerry served in the US Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. On May 22, 1954, he married Carol M. Deischl at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheboygan. Carol preceded Jerry in death on December 8, 2010. Jerry was the comptroller for Kohler General for 30 years prior to his retirement in 1983. In his retirement, Jerry worked as an insurance agent for 17 years.



Jerry was a devoted and active member of Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls where he served on the Bereavement Committee, Parish Council, Finance Committee, was a lector and Eucharistic Minister. Jerry was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award. He was a fourth degree member and treasurer of the Knights of Columbus. Jerry was a member of the Sheboygan Falls Post# 149 of the American Legion and past member of the Sheboygan Falls Kiwanis and Optimists Clubs. Jerry enjoyed golf, bowling, and playing bridge.

Jerry is survived by one son, Joseph L (Janet) Ziegler of Sheboygan; two grandchildren, Megan (Tim) Wilbert and Nathan Ziegler; two great grandchildren Matthew Wilbert and Therese Schumacher; one sister, Eileen Redensek of Sheboygan Falls; and one sister-in-law, Marion Siegel of Neenah.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Carol and one brother, Henry Ziegler.

A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Jerry's life will take place at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls with the Rev. Bob Lotz officiating. Burial and Military Honors will take place at St. Mary Cemetery in Sheboygan Falls.

Family and friends may gather at church on Tuesday from 3:30 pm until the time of the Mass at 5:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in his name for Blessed Trinity Parish.

Gerald Ziegler was a wonderful man, having known him through the Knights of Columbus. My husband thought the world of him. He will be missed by all who knew him. I just heard about his passing today. So sorry to have missed his service.

I met Mr. Ziegler many years ago while doing a newspaper article. Our paths crossed many times after that and he always remembered me and had many special visits and laughs. Sorry he's gone. He will be missed by all. Verla Peichl/ Press Correspondent
