Jonathan Harris Obituary

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Services for Jonathan A. Harris, 30, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Shady Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Stephen Sorrell officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. at Cross Road Cemetery, Crossett, AR. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 5, 2010 at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Bossier City, LA.
Jonathan was born April 15, 1980 in Morrilton, AR to David and Yolenda Daniels Harris and died November 3, 2010 in Bossier City, LA after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and sent from the church as a missionary to Spain.
Through God, Jonathan was a shining example to all of his friends and family with his unwavering faith and strength, even unto the end. He "kept rowing" everyday with steadfast and unfaltering perseverance.
He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Melissa Harris; daughters, Katie and Emma Harris and parents, David and Yolenda Harris all of Bossier City, LA; grandmother, Marjorie Daniels of San Marcos, TX; sister, Christy Inman and husband Robert of Lorena, TX; brothers, David Harris, Jr. and wife Melissa Ann of Tyler, TX, Timothy Harris of Farmington, MO, Shawn Harris of Shreveport, LA and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Honoring him as pallbearers will be his brothers, brothers-in-law, Robert Inman and Jonathan Cunningham and close friend, Pete Rangel. Honorary pallbearers will be Caleb Harris and Joshua Gary.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Foreign Missions Program at Shady Grove Baptist Church, 4227 Van Deeman St., Bossier City, LA 71112.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this most difficult time. I was raised in Shreveport, where I attended Baptist Tabernacle and Baptist Christian Academy with the Harris children. Christy and I were the same age. I am saddened to hear that your family is suffering so great a loss. Although I didn't know Jonathan today, I wanted to offer my condolences to the family of such a wonderful man of God. You must be so very proud of his accomplishments in this life. My heart goes out to Jonathan's parents, siblings,his wife and children, family and friends. I too, lost my little brother much too soon, he was 25. I now look forward to the treasure awaiting me in Heaven one day. I will be praying for you.

I grew up with Jonathan and I can't express enough sympathy for his loss. He was always a great person. His family are in our prayers. A good man will be deeply missed! We are truly sorry!
