Joanne Virant Obituary

1953 - 2015

Joanne Marie Virant, age 62, went home to be with Jesus Friday, October 16, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 2, 1953 in Arleta, CA

Joanne was employed by GTE/Verizon for over 33 years. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend ~always putting others before herself. She had the most generous, kind and loving heart that touched many lives with her presence. Her family and friends will always be thankful for the gift that was her life. Joanne especially enjoyed spending time with her two grandchildren and was fond of her travels with friends. She was a member of NorthPark Community Church in Santa Clarita. She was a member of the Tea Party and served as Chairwoman of membership for the Santa Clarita Republican Women Federated. She was a gun enthusiast and active member of the NRA. She loved nature, photographing flowers and visiting the mountain scenery of Montana.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Diane and Andrew Figueroa; son Robert Rodriguez; grandchildren Jacob and Brooklyn Rodriguez; sisters and brother-in-law Kathy Reid, Theresa Virant, Marianne and Will Cintron; brother and sister-in-law John and Karen Virant. Think of YOU every single day especially with all the pics of us still posted in my computer room. I know your anniversary of passing is coming up and I will never ever forget our Long friendship and our last trip to Vegas. Love you forever honey bunny

Mom,

I miss you more and more everyday. I miss your face, your smile, our phone conversations, the random little things you used to find for me on your day outings and most of all your hugs and kisses. I miss everything about you. I am so grateful for the 42 wonderful years I had with you as my mother. You taught me how to be strong and independent, yet loving at the same time. I know you are resting in peace and I cannot wait to be with you again. I love you forever and ever and ever. XOXO

Love always, Diane

Joanne,
You know what you did. From your anonymous phone call, to your countless holiday invites, to your huge, all encompassing hugs, you gave me a family when I didn't have one. Your gift continues to give and to grow. For as long as I have a family willing to embrace me, I have you to thank for it. I miss you.

We are saddened by Joanne's early passing, but I am thankful that I am old enough to have many shared memories of our time spent growing up. My favorite memories include riding bikes with her, and especially participating in the pranks she played on Halloween. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.

What a beautiful memorial! It made me think of our family trips to visit the "Virant cousins". Always had a nice time. I remember appreciating her for taking time as a teenager to spend time with her younger cousins -- thoughtful and fun. So sorry for the emptiness that is left with her departure, but as a follower of Christ, am happy to know there will be a wonderful reunion! To the family, do take care.

I loved working with and knowing Joanne. She had the best heart ever. I'm going to miss her but will always remember her and what she stood for. That is, all that's good and right.

I first met Joanne in 1986 when we
became neighbors. We had many good times together.

I will never forget her and the crazy things we would do, like showing up to check out each others new dates.
We spoke after I moved from Cheraw Dr. But now unfortunately it does not seem that it was often enough.

She truly was a warrior. May she rest in peace. Love you Joanne, and will sure miss you.

Every once in a while we are privileged to meet someone with the character, personality and values of Joanne.
I first met her while working on the 2012 election. When I would walk into the Republican Headquarters, there she would be, day or night it seemed!, making the phone calls for our candidate.
Her energy, devotion to our goals, her willingness to go the extra mile was very inspiring.
However, it was her spirituality that will forever remain in my heart. Nothing could shake her belief and confidence in her Lord, Jesus Christ.

Joanne was a dedicated member of our club, Santa Clarita Republican Women Federated (#SCRWF) who proudly served as our Third Vice President/Membership. In December 2014, we presented her with our organization's "Eileen Blanchard Award" for volunteer service, named in honor and memory of another joyful, tireless worker for SCRWF and the Republican Party. Despite Joanne's health challenges, she was boldly tireless, an extraordinary example for us all. We love her and miss her.

Joanne was an incredible Christ follower who knew what the saying means "God is Large and In Charge". She didn't question her circumstances but rather with God's help demonstrated to all of us what it means to be a Faithful Warrior. She fought the good fight, and is now singing praises and cancer free from pain, tears, and heart ache because she is in the arms of her beloved Savior, Jesus. She will be greatly missed but NOT Forgotten!!

So many years have come and gone since our high school days, carefree and joyful they were, since we had last talked. But our Father found it important for me to know you again, even for a short while, and gave me the honor of now knowing we are also sisters in Christ! Can't wait to see you again and share in the joy that's now a reality for you.
