JoAnne Blake, 86, of Sioux City, passed away Monday, June 21, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave.
JoAnne was born on July 31, 1934, in Homer, Neb., to Woodrow J. Davis and Kathryn R. (Bates) Davis. She attended South Sioux City High School (graduated with a G.E.D. from Western Iowa Tech). She attended Western Iowa Tech for surgical tech until she became ill.
She tended bar for Ray's Place, Swanee & Edies, and Bergies. She also worked as a nurse's aide for several years.
She loved to find old items at auctions or the outlet. She loved planting flowers and roses were her favorite. She loved to cook or bake when she could. She loved bartending and meeting so many people. She always had a special way to make anyone she came across feel as if they had known her for a lifetime. She was caring, loving, and cherished by so many people.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Judy Neal of Sioux City, Jean (Steve) Kelly of Sioux Falls, Jerry Barker of South Sioux City, Joe (Lynn) Barker of South Sioux City, Mary Barker (Ed Miller) of South Sioux City, Linda Barker of Sioux City, Ron (Annie) Blake of Kenosha Wis., John Bunning of Sioux City, Tammy (Jim) Symons of Sioux City, and Laura Barker of Wahoo, Neb.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, also many people that she "adopted" throughout her life.
JoAnne was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mildred (Millie) Saltzman; brother, Cecil Davis; son, Kenneth (Kenny) Barker; and two infant children that passed at birth.
