Christopher Alan Call 1979 - 2016
Christopher Alan Call, 37, of Springfield, IL, died from stage IV glioblastoma on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at his home. He was born on August 3, 1979 in Springfield and was the son of Leon and June Call.
His father, Leon, preceded him in death on March 16, 2014.
Chris attended St. Joseph School and Church in Springfield, IL. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol Unit at Capital Airport. He was a 1997 graduate of Springfield High School and was employed from 1996 to 2006 at Memorial Medical Center.
He attended LLCC from 2003 to 2006 where he was involved in Model UN, went on a trip to European battlefields, and completed the Honors Program. He also attended UIC for several semesters and thoroughly enjoyed his time in Chicago. Recently, he was awarded his degree in General Education in a special ceremony at LLCC.
Chris loved his time in college and every aspect of politics, including a good political debate or discussion.
He is survived by his mother June of Springfield; his brother Aaron (Nicole) Call of Summerville, SC. and his sister Shelly (Mike) Young of Springfield; three nieces, Alex Delahunt (USN), Madison Leigh Call, and Kelci Marie Young; one nephew, Kolby Lee Young; and his loving pets, Max the Cat and Sadie the Beagle.
Visitation: 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home, Springfield, IL.
Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2016 at St. Joseph Church, 1345 N. 6th Street, Springfield, with Reverend Steven Janoski officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
