Ina Savage Obituary

Ina Mae Savage

lna Mae Savage was born March 30, 1924 in Chicota, Texas to Joseph Marshall Hines and Mona Lee (Campbell) Hines. She went to be with her family on January 30, 2011. She married Glenn "Doc" Savage on January 22, 1944, in Hugo, Oklahoma. They met during World War II when he was assigned to Camp Maxey in Powderly, Texas where she worked. He preceded her in death in September, 1998.

Surviving her are two children Phyliss Savage Jones (Stephen) and Glenn Savage, Jr.; grandchildren Amy Howard Chastain (David), Jonathan Howard (Tabetha Lanham), and Joshua Howard (Ann Ushman); and Stefanie Savage Salvage (Alan), David Savage, and Laura Savage. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Christopher Chastain, Caileigh Chastain, Gabriella Chastain, Ahnna Lanham, Konnor Howard, and Emma Howard.

She is also survived by two sisters Helen Barlow (Don) of Paris, Texas, and LaTresa Colbert (Ed) of Scurry, Texas; sister-in-law Betty Hines (Joe Cline - dec.) of Garland, Texas, and brother-in-law Gene Sparks (Joyce - dec.) of Powderly, Texas. Preceding her in death were three brothers and one sister: Aubrey (Cordelia - dec.), William Campbell, Joe Cline (Betty), Joyce (Gene Sparks). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews: Denny Hines, Carolyn Young, Rusty Hines, Nancy Barak, Laurie Mashburn, Rhonda Forbis, Lynnette Johnson, Suzette Rosson, Donna Craig, Richard Barlow, Gwen Schumaker, Keith Barlow, Kim Wagliardo, and Debra Colbert. She was preceded in death by Kendall Hines and Rebecca Mashburn. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.

She was a homemaker for most of her life, once working at Hobbs and a daycare center. She also babysat children in her home. She was an avid supporter of youth baseball for which her husband managed and coached many teams and her son played on these teams. She has been a member of the Springfield Southern Baptist Church since 1955.

Visitation: 4-6 pm, Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home

Funeral Service: 11 am, Friday, February 4, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Keppler officiating.

Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

Family requests Memorial Donations be made to St. John's Hospice.
