BROADWELL - Vola Shaw, 82, of Broadwell died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 10, 1925, in Chenoa, the daughter of Roy and Cora Harper Estes. She married James B. Shaw on March 3, 1945; he preceded her in death in 1982. She also was preceded in death by her sons, Delmar Shaw in 1994 and Lee Roy Shaw in 1969; and a sister, Opal Cawthorn in 2008.
Vola was a homemaker and a member of Broadwell Christian Church and volunteered at the Christian Nursing Home.
Surviving are a son, David (wife, Mary) Shaw of Illiopolis; two daughters, Barbara (husband, Ernest) Allen of Mexico, Mo., and Hazel (husband, Ron) Ridgeway of Broadwell; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray Estes of Woodbridge, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from noon until time of services at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, at Fullenwider-Park Funeral Home in Mechanicsburg with the Rev. Walt Harper officiating. Burial will be in Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Broadwell Christian Church.

I was one of the nurses that cared for Mrs. Shaw while she was on 6G at Memorial Medical Center. I wanted to let everyone know that it was a pleasure to care for her, and my heart goes out to you all.
