Victoria Sherbert Obituary

UNION, SC-- Mrs. Victoria Moore Sherbert, of 145 Sutton Lane, Newberry, SC, formerly of Union, SC, died Friday, November 4, 2005 at the Baptist Medical Center in Columbia, SC. Mrs. Sherbert was the widow of Sammie Austin Sherbert.Mrs. Sherbert was born in Laurens, SC the daughter of the late John Melton and Flora Albert Nix Moore. She graduated from Converse College in 1938, and had attended Spartanburg Junior College. Mrs. Sherbert was a retired school teacher after 40 years, having taught in Union, Spartanburg, and Greenville County schools. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Union.Surviving are a daughter, Susanne S. Prince of Union; a son, Terence Terry Sherbert of the home; a brother, John H. Moore of Falls Church, VA; four grandchildren, Gayle Sherbert of Whitmire, Al Sherbert of Pageland, SC, Jennifer Howell of Union and Stewart Prince of Columbia, SC; eight great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Paula Harrison of the home.Graveside services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 6, 2005 at Union Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Robert Emory. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.Honorary Pallbearers will be the grandsons, nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, Spartanburg Area Office, 110 South Dean Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or to Whitmire Fire Department, 368 Duckett Avenue, Whitmire, SC 29178; or to Whitrmire First Responders, 302 Main Street, Whitmire, SC 29378.The families are at their respective homes.www.holcombefuneralhomes.com.S.R.
