Harry FOWLER Obituary

FOWLER,
Harry Leroy

Harry Leroy Fowler of Spokane, WA passed away peacefully on Monday morning, 6/6, at 10:10. He was surrounded by family, with a Chaplain playing Amazing Grace on the guitar at his bedside.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, family member, co-worker and friend. Harry was born February 13th, 1934 to William and Florence Fowler in Spokane, WA. He attended North Central High School and graduated in 1952. After graduation he joined the U.S. Navy and served honorably. During one of his Navy leaves, he went to visit his old high school and saw the young woman that would become the love of his life, Carol Bays. After a 21 month engagement, they were married on May 11th, 1957. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Carol, son Mike Fowler (daughter in-law Tina) and daughter Lorri Carlo (son in-law Don), four grandchildren, Dane Lawrence, Luke Fowler, Christianne Domke (Josh) and Max Carlo and one great-grandchild, Vivienne. He is also survived by his sister Peggy Hack and many other family members. Harry was a true renaissance man. Growing up in his dad's cabinet shop, he became a craftsman with wood; making furniture and other gifts made of wood for family, friends and church. He truly loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time enjoying hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends. He had a long and successful career working for the U.S. Postal Service. During his 37+ year career, he was a mail carrier, station supervisor for many stations in Spokane and finally in charge of implementing 9 digit zip code for the western region. He truly loved his work at the post office and after retiring, still wanted to work and did so at a local cabinet shop for several more years. Dad loved many things in his life; first and foremost he loved God. He loved his Sweetheart Carol, as well as his family and friends. He will be greatly missed, but we hold onto so many wonderful memories!
A memorial service will be held on Friday July, 1st at 11:00 a.m. at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home. A reception will follow.
