Stevie was my buddy. At first, my neighbor, then acquaintance, then my buddy. A dear soul and bright as a star with those ice blue eyes that just sparkled. He said life was like a bus ride, some we are on the bus with longer than others; my time with him was short, but it happened and I was blessed for it. We loved our cats, went to the library, carpooled and dined together. We shared our interests and views and he was a true friend. My heart will always be fond of him and I will miss him forever - a true prince that was loved dearly.

I was so saddened to read of Steve’s passing and extend my heartfelt sympathies to each of you.
Steve was the "new kid" on our school bus after the Blue family moved to their new home on Croft Road. I think that was around the 7th grade. I didn’t meet Steve, however, until the 9th grade when he sat behind me in Latin class and tapped me on the shoulder to borrow a pen. That was the beginning of a great friendship. A group of us rode the school bus together, and some of my fondest memories are of the many laughs and wonderful conversations we had together.
Steve had so many natural abilities. I remember his superb performance as the lead character, the Stage Manager, in our senior class play, "Our Town." He also was the announcer for our half-time marching band performances and singlehandedly orchestrated a successful campaign to elect our senior class officers. He was so interested in the space program and stayed home from school to watch launches in those early days of space exploration. He loved politics, and I always thought he would be a political science professor. Reading of his many interests in recent years, it was obvious that Steve never stopped learning and growing.
Although I had not seen Steve for many years, I have always thought of him as one of my very special friends. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers during the coming days.

My deepest sympathy to all of Steve's family. I am so sorry to have lost such a good friend. I worked with him at the One Stop for almost 5 years and we attended some wonderful Napa Symphonies together. I'll miss you. May God Bless you and your family. Dee

I am so sorry to hear about Steve. Please accept my very deepest condolences.
Steve and I went to graduate school together and we spent many hours at JFKU talking and laughing, comparing ideas and opinions--Steve never in short supply of those! He was a very much loved friend.
We got together a few years ago, shortly after he finished a round of chemo -- he was witty and had a such a positive attitude about life and death.
He shared his silk screened scarves and paintings, and when he worked in Pleasant Hill, his office walls were decorated with bright colored kites with long-hanging tails.
I am so sorry he is gone. The world isn't quite so sunny without him. Although I'd not seen him for a few years, I am saddened that he is gone. I will hold Steve in my heart and in my prayers.
Warmly, Cindy Luck
