I have the fondest memories of one of my "favorite" Uncles. Uncle George was a kind and peaceful soul, with a great sense of humor and kindness that were memorable traits. I can still hear his voice and his laughter. It was easy to be around George, and I could not imagine anyone that knew him not being sad and happy with his passing. Sad to lose such an incredible person in a weary world. Happy that he is no longer bound to the toils of this world, no more suffering, and I know he has found peace now for eternity. Say hi to my Mom, my Dad, my Sister, Grandma and Grandpa Sherman, and all the love ones you now join in Heaven. I ask the Lord for special blessings to my Aunt Radine, and my Cousins Paula, John, Karla, and Marnie. George, JOB WELL DONE!!!

I have so many fond memories of my dear uncle but here are a few.
Uncle George was very loving to everyone and outwardly showed this to me many times over the years. As a child I remember visiting Plainfield and the first place we would go (after settling in at Gramma's) was the mill. He would light up like a Christmas tree and let us look down into the grinder. Also I remember on Saturday mornings at Gramma's being awake and hearing him come in and stomp the snow of his boots. Again he would light up to see me (and all of us.)
After we moved away when I was a teenager, I only got to see him and Aunt Radine every so often, sometimes 5 or 10 years in between. Still he showed true love and fondness and in no time it was like you saw him yesterday.
Another thing that always struck me was how much he and my Mom loved each other. Mom was always excited when he and Aunt Radine were going to visit. Those two picked up right where they left off.
Uncle George was a role model for me because he showed me someone (other than my own father) who was a true patriarch for his family and lived his faith and participated in his community.
He was one of the funniest men I ever met and I remember sitting rapt as he and dad swapped stories. When he heard something funny his eyes would well up and that wonderful smile shined before he actually laughed.
I love you Aunt Radine he was a truly blessed man to have such a wonderful and loving wife.
Paula, John, Karla and Marne... all of your love and prayers and support helped him in his last years more than you'll ever know.
I love you all dearly and wish you the very best.
