Sandra Pasternack Obituary

Pasternack Pasternack, Sandra Sandy of Pembroke Park, FL and Bangor, ME, was born January 20, 1943 and died September 28, 2011 after a 3 year battle with Lou Gehrig??s disease-ALS. Sandra was born in New York city and went to high school and college there. She moved to Bangor, ME and worked as office manage for her physician brother in-law and then became The Jewish Community Center director. Through the years she was very active in community theater. She received many accolades for her perfomances. Sandra had a wonderful singing voice and love to entertain. She was a member of Beth Abraham Synagogue. Sandra was a Navy Veteran. In 1999 Sandra had gender re-assignment surgery and moved to Lauderdale lakes. She had many friends through support groups for people with gender issues. Sandra loved mentoring and would help people in many ways. Her absolute joy was her involvement in Etz Chaim Synagogue in Wilton Manors. Sandra is survived by three children, grandchildren, one great grandchild and a sister. Sandra was buried at Beth David cemetery in Hollywood on October 3,2011. Donations in her name may be sent to the ALS Foundation.
