Lazaro LOPEZ Obituary

LOPEZ, Lazaro, born in Cuba on July 1939. Survived by his wife of 45 years, Margarita and two daughters, Margarita and Marisela, grandson Tristan Bess, four sisters, one brother, scores of nieces and nephews. Lazaro was a survivor of an impoverished and difficult childhood which he overcame with a well above average intelligence and an even greater capacity for compassion. He was Head Custodian at Roosevelt Elementary. Retired after 25 years. Lazaro leaves many, many friends. He was a remarkable son, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and mentor to many in our community. Lazaro was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need, had a great sense of humor, and was humble and charitable. He loved unconditionally and without regrets. For some, he was a spiritual guide, for others he was the epitome of positivity. A philosopher and philanthropist admired by many in all walks of life. Lazaro was nonjudgemental and a true friend to any and all. He was an animal and nature lover. His soundbite was "Life is a fantasy", (La vida es una fantasia). While this is open for much interpretation, he lived in the present, in the moment until his very last day on earth. Viewing at Boza Funeral Home Saturday, November 2nd, 2013 between 9AM and 11AM. Come prepare to laugh, cry, share, and drink cuban coffee with those who will miss him inconsolably. He is at peace and has returned to the Lord, our source and redeemer.
