Thomas HAGLER Obituary

HAGLER, Thomas A. "Tom" 87, of Wesley Chapel, FL, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at the Rucki Hospice Care Center, Zephyrhills, FL. Born in Manhattan, IL, on January 5, 1935, Tom moved with his family to Florida when he was an infant. Tom was a graduate of the University of Florida, and earned his Masters degree at the University of South Florida. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was an electrical engineer for Sperry, then taught electrical engineering at USF until his retirement in 2001. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Gaynel Hagler; children, Jane Hagler Essig, Mary Ruth Street (Phil), and Wesley Hagler (Kim), all of Tallahassee, FL, Patricia Salmon (Mike) of Hollywood, FL, and Michael Scaglione (Maggie) of Spring Hill, FL; grandchildren, Kendra Essig (Isaac Morales), Allison Street (Austin Londono), Derek Street, Hannah Hagler, Peyton Hagler, Cason Hagler, and Siyanna Scaglione; and dear pet, Bleu. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Dr. Dale and Naomi Hagler; his sister, Helen Lynn Hagler; and a grandson, Cody James Essig. He is surely also welcomed by beloved pets Xena and Skye. There will be a small family gathering to return his ashes to the North Carolina mountains he enjoyed since childhood. In lieu of flowers, those so inclined are kindly requested to donate to the Paralyzed Veterans of America in Tom's memory.
