Jose Aguirre Obituary
He completed his last trailblazing day on this earth on June 12, 2023, after a long illness. As an immigrant to this country, he worked to become a citizen, a business owner, and an example of how education and hard work can help families move ahead in the United States. Because of him, many family members settled and thrived in New Mexico, Texas, Illinois (and other areas), built businesses, raised families, and contributed to their various communities. Mr. Aguirre grew up in a large family (an immediate family with twelve children) with relatives and loved ones living throughout the United States and Mexico. He is survived by his siblings: Salvador (Loyola, Taos, NM), Socorro Lopez (Chicago, IL), Carmen Saucedo (Miguel, Dallas, TX), Soledad (Efren, Dallas, TX), Luis (Los Lunas, NM), Ismael (Nora, Taos, NM), Rosa (Juarez, MX), and Gerardo (Francisca, El Paso, TX), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. He is additionally survived by his eight children--Beatriz Aguirre-Strong (Steve Strong, CO), Norma Aguirre (Don Rush, MO), James Aguirre (Taos, NM), Josephine Finley (CO), Ben Aguirre (Alisa, La Mesilla, NM), Julia Aguirre (Dallas, TX), Jose G. Aguirre (Sarah, Rio Rancho, NM), and Gloria Martinez (James Martinez, CO)-nineteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his father and mother (Benigno Aguirre Medina and Carmen Duarte Aguirre), his sister Agueda (Roberto Garcia, El Paso, TX); brothers, Benigno (Camerina, Chicago, IL) and Guillermo "Memo" (Lorraine, Taos, NM), and a daughter, Maria Lourdes Aguirre Jeffery. Rosary was recited on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 6pm in the Evergreen Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. Funeral Service was held on Friday, June 16, 2023 at 10am in the Evergreen Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home, followed by the burial at the Los Cordovas Cemetery.
