I have such fond memories of dear Gussie, even though I have only known her in her later years. She was a sweet friend to my mom at OBT. I loved her singing, her stories, and how she gushed lovingly over my grandchildren when I'd bring them to visit. She clearly loved her family with all her heart, and was so proud of them. Frances, you were a devoted, loving and faithful daughter. My prayers for you all.

Bob and Gussie were among our first friends when we arrived to serve on the staff of First Baptist Church over fifty years ago. Both of them were always active supporters of the music and youth ministries. A gifted cook and gracious hostess, Gussie loved to discuss books, southern history, and plants. Her stories could be hilarious and she was always fun to be with. It was a feast for the eyes to drive by her beloved home to admire her seasonal landscape plantings. It was always clear that Gussies grandchildren were a great joy to her. Her treasured friendship truly enriched our lives and we thank God for the blessing of being included in her large circle of friends.

Bobby and Gray,
Your parents were an integral part of my family's life. I remember how my parents looked forward to joining them at the Georgia-Florida football games where they would reminisce about old times.
Ms. Gussie was one of a kind. There will always be a smile on one's face as she lives on in our memory.
My heart goes out to you with love.

Augusta leaves so many that love and respect this grand lady. She has touched so many lives. I met Augusta through her love of her southern heritage. She was a long time member of the Henry Patrick Gradick Chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy. She held membership in many lineage patriotic groups. Her family reflects her love of God and Country- Bravo Augusta a life well lived.

I have never had the pleasure of meeting Gussie, however I have the pleasure of working with her son (Gray). I assume 'he is the person he is' as a result of the upbringing by his mom; so this makes her one very special person. It is said that "one's life is gaged on what they leave behind" . it is obvious that she has done a superb job raising her family and leaves behind a very positive impact on our society. Our love, thoughts and prayers goes out to her and her family - may she rest in peace.
