Steven Porter Obituary
Nashville - Steven Robert Porter, age 65, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2020, and surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Porter, Virginia McLennan Porter McWhirter, step-father Clyde S. (Mack) McWhirter; sisters, Lavone Beem and Pat Burnidge. He is survived by the love of his life and best friend, Angie Murphy; brother, Charles E. Porter (Gale); nieces and nephews, Leslie Porter, Jeffrey Porter (Mary), Carla Wilson (Kenny), Michael Porter (Courtney); and a host of loving family, including great- nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Steven graduated from Stratford High School and attended Volunteer State Community College. He was employed at CNA Insurance for many years. It was during his employment over the past 15 years, at Donelson Bowl, that he found fulfilling work by combining his passion for the sport of bowling with his talents. In addition to competing in Bowling Leagues and Tournaments, he enjoyed attending Titans and Predators games with his favorite gal.
A longtime member of McKendree United Methodist Church, he served in the choir, and most recently attended Life Church in Nashville, TN.
Steven never met a stranger, his infectious smile and gift for conversation gave him the ability to make friends wherever he might be. He was an avid feline lover and they too were immediately drawn to his kind spirit. Steven will be greatly missed by his family and friends near and far.
A Graveside Service will be held at Hermitage Memorial Gardens on Thursday, August 6th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Willowbrook Home Health & Hospice or the American Cancer Society. Please visit the online obituary www.hermitagefh.com

Angie, please accept my heartfelt love and sympathy at Steve’s passing. His tender, compassionate heart was always tuned in to the needs of others.
Although my StevieB and I met you only once in 2010, the way he cared for you was overwhelmingly obvious. My prayers are with you and I am learning more and more each day how God will offer His love and peace to you...not just through your grief, but forever.
