With his warm smile and gentle demeanor, Dr. Patterson had a way of building your confidence and making you feel reassured. Dr. Patterson modeled professionalism and expected the same from his students. He touched the lives of many, and he will always have a special place in my thoughts. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.
May brooks and trees and singing hills
Join in the chorus too,
And every gentle wind that blows
Send happiness to you.

As his former student, his colleague and his supervisor, I can say unequivocally that Bishop Patterson was the kind of personality you are privileged to meet on life's journey. As his student, he was always considerate, never intimidating and always made you feel that you were capable. As his colleague, he was collaborative in the work we had to do for the university. As his supervisor, he never let our past interfere with the protocol and respect expected in our relationship. Bishop Patterson had a quiet dignity about him that garnered the respect of everyone who crossed his path; he epitomizes a cherished era gone by, but he will remain in a precious spot in the hearts of those of us who were blessed to know him.
Respectfully,
Dr. Jimmy R. Jenkins, Sr.
