William Hyrchak Obituary

William A. Hyrchak, 83, of Monessen, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at his residence. He was born in Monessen on July 21, 1925, the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Yoney) Hyrchak. Mr. Hyrchak was a 1944 graduate of Monessen High School and a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Eagles Aerie No. 2399, American Legion Post No. 28, VFW Post No. 1190, and he was a life member of the Ukrainian Literary and Beneficial Association, all in Monessen. Mr. Hyrchak had worked as a butcher at the former Hyrchak's Meats & Grocery store. He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a sergeant with the U.S. Army. Mr. Hyrchak also was part of the D-Day invasion. He is survived by his sister, Helen Hrycko, of Monessen; and nephews and nieces. Friends will be received Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. in the DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. and CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen (724-684-8750); http://www.dalfonso-billick.com" target="new">www.dalfonso-billick.com. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 13, at 10 a.m. in St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Monessen (everyone is asked to meet at the church). Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery. VFW Post No. 1190 and American Legion Post No. 28 will conduct services at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
