Dorthy Greenwalt

Dorthy J. Greenwalt, 77, of Grand Island died Monday, Sept. 29, 2008 at home.

Services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008 at Messiah Lutheran Church with the Rev. Harvey Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Kleine Funeral Home with the family present throughout the evening.

Dorthy is survived by three daughters, Debra and husband, Scott Peterson of Grand Island, Diane and husband, Kevin McDermott of Grand Island and Denise and husband, Rich Raile of Grand Island; and a sister, Delores Skolil of North Loup.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence and her parents.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Jennifer and husband, Aaron Buettner, Tyler and wife, Jen Peterson, Spencer and wife, Natalie Peterson, Amber Peterson, Matt and wife Pam McDermott, Drew and wife, Kate McDermott, Luke McDermott, John McDermott, Kelli Raile, and Brittany Raile, seven great-grandchildren, Joel, Heidi, Ellese, Jaise, Ayden, Myles, and Addyson.

Dorthy was born May 24, 1931 in Grand Island, the daughter of Otto and Alma (Wiese) Stueven. She grew up in Grand Island, attended Pleasant Ridge School Dist. 31, and worked at Model Laundry. On Jan. 31, 1956 she married Clarence E. Greenwalt, then worked by Dreisbach's Steak House for many years.

She was a member of the Platte Duetsche Society. Her hobbies included attending flea markets, buying and selling antiques, dancing, embroidering, playing cards, and collecting cookie jars and salt and pepper shakers. She loved her family and loved spending time with them.
