David Deese Obituary

David Shannon Deese, 77, of Lancaster, peacefully passed away on Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at Washington Veterans Home in Retsil, Wash., after battling colon cancer for six months.
David's military career with the Navy spanned over 30 years (1955-1985), where he went the way of the mustang, and rose from the rank of E-1 to lieutenant commander – the highest rank achievable at that time. He ended his career in the position of ships installation officer for the Naval Air Force U.S. Pacific Fleet in Coronado, Calif. His sea duty included sailing on every carrier in the Pacific fleet.
David's awards were extensive and inclusive of the Navy Commendation Medal for Heroic Service. He was most proud of his Living Legend Award from the Aviation Boatswain's Mates Association (ABMA). David's love of the Navy after retirement extended to his being a contractor for 12 years within the Department of Defense.
David is survived by his wife, Patricia (55 years marriage); and his children, David Duane, Deborah and Yvette Deese; and his granddaughter, Casey Deese.
His hobbies included golfing, fishing and hunting.
David has asked that there be no service or flowers. He felt that he did all his celebrating while he was living.
He was honored to be a member of the ABMA, and his affiliation with his brother sailors. If you wish to do something in honor of David's life, please make a donation to a charity in support of veterans.
