DAVID GARCIA Obituary
EDINBURG - On July 4th, 2012, the epitome of a truly great, great man passed, he was a father a loving husband, a son, and friend to many.
Survived by his wife Irma Garcia, daughter Bianca Garcia, and two sons Ricco and Samuel Garcia his parents, Juan Garcia of McAllen and Lucinda Cantu of Edinburg; three sisters, Clara Garcia of Austin, Texas, Ester Pacheco of San Juan and Patricia Lopez of Edinburg; numerous nieces and nephews.
David Garcia's passing was a true testament to all of the world that all men truly are mortal. He served as an attorney in South Texas where he challenged the status quo and worked to improve the quality of life for hundreds of people his entire professional career.
Born and raised in some of the roughest areas surrounding Detroit, Michigan he worked almost his entire life where he graduated from Ecorse High School then graduating from the University of Michigan on a full ride scholarship. He then attended law school at the University of Texas. Upon serving as an attorney he proved himself as one of the greatest attorneys in the United States, taking a case all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States at the age of 26. A man who would receive $100 and give away $99 in a heartbeat because he was always that confident and giving. His giving extended to missionary trips in Africa, to the payment of many people's education, his love and fortune was given to his extended family and friends his entire life.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today, Friday, July 6, 2012, with a 7 p.m. rosary at Legacy Chapels, 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral Mass will be at 11a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.
Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.

I was a few years ahead of David in law school. I was a teaching assistant and had David in my class. He had such a warm and magnetic personality that he brought joy to the room. David Garcia was a great man, indeed. I have worked for over 30 years with lawyers and I can truthfully say that Mr. David Garcia was the kindest, most generous, most understanding boss I ever had. When I underwent open heart surgery in March of 2008, he visited me before the surgery, sat on my hospital bed, held my hand, comforted me and gave me the strength I needed to face the ordeal. I will never forget him, and no one that ever knew him will ever forget him. My sincerest condolences to his family, Irma and the children can give thanks to the Lord that they had the privilege of having a husband and father like David Garcia. Tio David's legacy lives on through his children. Truly brilliant man with truly brilliant children who he loved unconditionaly and would frequently hug and laugh with. Mrs. Irma I know you cause of my sister in law Mari and my daughter Ashley graduated with Sam, so sorry to hear of your loss the little I knew of Mr. Garcia and what I saw of the good person he was he was always ready to help or answer what ever problem anyone had. May God Bless you and your children. Mr. Garcia and you did a wonderful job of raising your children.
