I remember George Van Buskirk each and every day. WHY? Because, George gave me a cedar framed 90"x52" photo of Lake Ann and Mt Shuksan near Mt Baker in Washington. George said he got this photo from a Tavern. I did not ask why or how. His wife, Ramona said this picture had to vacate their house. George knew I loved The Mountains. I have climbed "on" about 250 local Mountains. This beautiful LARGE photo compliments the American Burial Flags of my USMC Father and my US Army Son. Thank you to George and his wonderful Family.

As Adult Probation and Parole Officers for the Department of Corrections, George and I worked famously together for many years in the Olympia and South Bend field offices. He had a very discrete and unorthodox way of getting the job done. George would hardly ever disagree with you – but would go ahead and do it his way. This was a “people skill” he had learned from his many years of military service. George was very intelligent and a VERY FUN guy to be around.
I enjoyed taking his son, Doug, on a climb of Mt Storm King near Port Angeles and on an overnight hike to a very remote, Snowfield Lake.
George will be missed and long remembered by those who were fortunate to know him.
