Ramona Langford Obituary

LEESVILLE - A worship service celebrating the life of Ramona Addy Langford, age 82, of Leesville, SC, will be held at Wittenberg Lutheran Church, Leesville, at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012, with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from12:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. prior to the service at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Donald Addy, Joe Addy, Michael Addy, Dwight Addy, Rev. Ellis Addy, Henry Pete Addy, Kevin Addy and Craig Langford. Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Threatt, Larry Young, Dr. Melton Stuckey, Mrs. Ed Hoover, Mrs. Evetta George, Mrs. George Steele, Mrs. John Watkins, Mrs. Joan Caughman, Mrs. Maude Rikard, Mrs. Sarah McDonald, Mrs. Rosemary Dominick, Mr. Bill Walker and members of Circle III of Wittenberg WELCA.

Mrs. Langford, widow of John Monroe Langford, died February 24, 2012, in Houston, TX, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. She had been in Houston for several years to be near her only daughter, Maryanne Keeling.

Born in the Cedar Grove community, Mrs. Langford was a daughter of the late Evans Oliver Addy and Eva Price Addy. She was a 1950 graduate of Winthrop College with a degree in sociology/psychology, and received post graduate education at the University of South Carolina. She taught at Batesburg Elementary School, and retired as the programs supervisor with the Department of Social Services, Lexington County, after 28 years of service.

Mrs. Langford was a member of Wittenberg Lutheran Church where she had served on church council, as Sunday school teacher, as officer in WELCA, and actively served on the Social Ministry, and the Worship and Music Committees. She was a member of the Camellia Garden Club and Batesburg-Leesville Legion Auxiliary, Post #61.

Surviving are Mrs. Langford's daughter and son-in-law, Maryanne and Ted Keeling (Houston, TX), her three grandchildren, Lauren Keeling (Oklahoma City, OK), Ryan Keeling (Houston, TX), and Anna Keeling (Houston, TX). Also surviving are sister, Grace McCoy of Pageland, SC, brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Theda Addy of West Columbia, sisters-in-law, Mary Bogo of Phoenix, AZ, Mavis Addy of Leesville, SC; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Langford was predeceased by two brothers, Dalton P. (Jack) Addy and Wright E. (Pete) Addy of Leesville, SC.

So very sorry to learn of Ramona's death. What a precious lady and friend. I first met your mom when I started work at Lexington DSS. I know how much she loved each of her family . Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you.
