Melba June McGowan, a woman full of joy and laughter, passed away peacefully on Dec. 22, 2023, in her hometown of Princeton, where she was also born on Dec. 19, 1955. Melba's effervescent spirit and loving nature left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her, and her memory will be cherished forever.
Melba was a proud graduate of Caldwell County High School and was actively involved in the Princeton community. She was a devoted member of the Princeton Optimist Club and a member of Shepherd Street Baptist Church. She often dedicated her time and energy to serving others wherever she could. Her unwavering commitment to her community reflected the enormous heart she had for people.
Known for her friendly demeanor, Melba was often described as funny and loving, traits that endeared her to many. She was the life of the party, always in the mix, and brought laughter and joy to every gathering. Melba's interests were a reflection of her vibrant personality; she loved shopping and spending quality time with her cherished daughter and grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Melba's life was a testament to the power of a kind word, a generous spirit, and a hearty laugh. Her presence was a gift to all who had the privilege to know her, and her memory will continue to inspire us to live life to the fullest, just as she did. Melba June McGowan will be deeply missed, but the love and light she shared will continue to shine in the lives of those she touched.
Melba's legacy of love and laughter is carried on by her beloved daughter, Nicole McGowan of Princeton; her brother, Danny McGowan of Princeton; a devoted brother-in-law, William Tooles; her adored grandchildren, Kyla and Chevy McGowan; and a host of close family and friends who were blessed to have been a part of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Atlas Edward and Mary Frances Copeland McGowan; sister, Norma Tooles; nephew, William Reed Tooles.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023 at Morgan's Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, at Morgan's Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Copeland officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
